Hi, I'm Carling!

I Co-Founded Relationship Matters Therapy Centre with the intention of building a place where people can work on themselves and their relationships to enhance their quality of life. By design, we are social beings and feeling well connected to others is integral for a fulfilling life. I am passionate about supporting clients in accessing their genuine selves and deep, healthy connections with those that they care about.

Clients feeling safe to be themselves is my top priority. I truly believe in the healing power of authenticity and how this helps us move in healthy and effective directions. I work diligently to ensure that every client regardless of their background, experiences of marginalization, relationship structure etc. feels safe and comfortable to be vulnerable in our work together. To me, vulnerability and authenticity are essential for an effective therapeutic experience.

I have been providing therapy since 2014 and I have had the pleasure of working with marginalized clients in my previous role at an HIV Support and Transgender Health Clinic. I have learned that many of our individual and relational issues are often connected to the ways that we are socially trained by our culture and by our families of origin. I work from a systemic, queer and feminist informed stance that takes into account how oppression and cultural factors influence my clients' lives and progress towards their goals.

In addition to helping clients address pressing concerns in their lives, I also support people in their self-development goals. For example, I have worked with personal growth clients on making career changes, gaining deeper understanding of self, developing stronger beliefs in one's abilities, establishing healthier and fulfilling daily routines and accessing more fun, pleasure and playfulness.
