A Bit About Me
Hi! I'm Shannon, a psychotherapy intern on the path to obtaining a Master's in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy.
My passion lies in assisting clients in discovering their individual strengths, overcoming obstacles, and embarking on a journey of healing and self-discovery.
My belief in the profound impact of human connection and the resilience within each of us has drawn me to the field of mental health. I approach my work through an intersectional lens, with a deep commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, affirming space that honours diverse identities. I have a keen interest in gender and sexuality, and take a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and sex-positive approach to my work.
In addition to individual therapy, I also offer couples therapy. I view relationships as potent sources of healing and aim to facilitate deeper connections and intimacy within couples. Whether you're navigating challenges or seeking to strengthen your bond, I am here to provide a listening ear and support for both partners.
During our sessions, you can expect a non-judgmental and open environment where we delve into your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, tailoring our approach to meet your unique needs.
My own personal experiences have deeply influenced my journey, leading me to value vulnerability, empathy, and authentic human connection. When I'm not in the therapy room, you'll find me indulging in a good book, exploring the beauty of nature, and spending time with loved ones.
Taking the first step towards seeking therapy can be challenging, but I'm here to support you every step of the way. My commitment to you is to provide a supportive and compassionate environment where you can explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.
