A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Shannon!

I am a therapist intern and masters student specializing in spiritual care and psychotherapy at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Healing is a journey that can be simultaneously messy and beautiful; tiresome and alleviating; offering new perplexing layers and profound clarity. But most of all -- it is always worth it. These first steps can be the most difficult. The fact that you are here reading this bio shows that you have already taken many important steps in your healing journey and are courageously investing care in your own well-being. I want to commend you for all of the steps you have taken that have brought you here today.

As a practitioner, I use a feminist and queer informed lens that takes into account how systemic oppression influences the lives of my clients. I use a harm-reduction, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approach and ensure that these are at the forefront of my work with clients. I use an integrative approach by incorporating various therapeutic modalities to best support each client in working to reach their goals. I am known for my warmth, compassion, and down-to-earth nature. I create a safe, nurturing space where clients feel safe in knowing that they can openly share without fear of judgement.

In my free time, you can catch me spending time with friends and family, cooking new recipes, reading and writing, or sweating it out in a yoga class. And watching Netflix. Can’t forget about Netflix. I’m looking forward to learning about all the things that make you your unique wonderful self.
