Registered Psychotherapist

A Bit About Me

Hi, I'm Bhavani!

I am a current Registered Psychotherapist. I am passionate about working with individuals, families, and couples from various ethnicities, genders, and sexualities.

First and foremost, your therapy is about you, My goal is to provide a therapeutic space to talk in a way that makes you feel empowered and valued. I believe we all have a collection of stories that need to be told and some may want to be rewritten. As a relational and systemic therapist, we will work together to learn more about who you hope to be in life and what supports we can strengthen to move towards your goals. We will unpack and learn more about what brought you to where you are, and discover new paths towards your ideal relationship with yourself as well as with others.

My approach is grounded in forming a trusting and collaborative relationship where we can help rewrite your story in a way that is rewarding for you. Our work together may include metaphors and analogies that help you feel empowered from the problems that might be present in your life. My approach is grounded in curiosity and asking probing questions that can help you learn more about yourself or introduce an alternative narrative that can further empower you. I believe you carry an inherent resiliency and I work from an anti-oppressive, culturally competent, and trauma-informed lens.  I work from a place of compassion, care, and humour where therapy can become a space to play around with ideas, curiosities, and wonderings.

I use dialogic, narrative, solution-focused and emotionally-focused therapeutic approaches, that are client centred, and position you as the expert of your experience. This means I approach our therapy from a place of curiosity and wonderings, as well as make sure we are tracking your progress in a way that feels good for you. We can dig deep into what your emotions say about what your values and needs are, how you wish to respond to them, and to develop a stronger sense of self and direction. I also hold a certificate in Grief Education from the University of Toronto. This means I have additional training in grief work and am equipped to hold space for the harder conversations involved in life transitions such as the passing of a loved one, the ending of a relationship, or a shifting towards a new life-path.

I look so forward to connecting with you and supporting you through your journey!
