A Bit About Me
Hi, I'm Jason!
I am a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist, Co-Founder of Relationship Matters Therapy Centre...and above all else, I am human just like you.
The way I work with clients is very person-centred and collaborative. I recognize how we do not live in isolation. We all live in the context of much larger systems and multiple relationships that inevitably have an impact on how we experience the world. As a result, it was important for me to create a space for people to be supported for who they are, and not reduce them to a list of mental health symptoms.
I like to keep things fair, down-to-earth, respectful, and equitable while creating an anti-oppressive space with clients to talk about the things that really matter to you.
I draw from different therapeutic modalities in order to best fit your needs. As an integrative therapist, my influences come from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gottman Method Couple Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
As a therapist, it is my goal to uphold my values and beliefs in the work that I do with my clients. I believe in being honest and authentic as a person, while also being skilled, knowledgeable, and resourceful as a clinician.
I strive to maintain an open and honest dialogue with my clients in a way that speaks to who we are and honours our experiences. I do not believe in a robotic or prescriptive way of being. Rather, it is my hope that in every interaction that I have with clients I am able to do so in the most human way possible. In a way that highlights honesty, advocacy, and empathy, while also upholding your dignity and decency as a human being.
Additionally, as I also value professional development, I continue to improve and hone my clinical skills through lifelong learning by attending different trainings, workshops, and research that are paramount to the continuous improvement of my clinical proficiency.
As I continue to work as a therapist, it is my mission to use these values as a means to help my clients feel safe, heard, respected, understood, and to feel like themselves.
